eavesdropping = constant entertainment

For starters it took me most of my life to figure out the proper spelling of the word "eavesdropping." a high school diploma and 2 years of college later... success!

I had a realization today that as much as I love twitter, 140 characters just isn't enough. Whittling down my thoughts and opinions to fit in such a small space is a challenge at times. Not that I can't handle it, I can and will continue to embrace the wonder that is twitter, but for those times I feel the need to rant, hello blogger.

Sitting in the Border's coffee shop in St. Petersburg, FL and can't help but overhear the conversation going on between the two Asian looking gentleman 20 feet to my right. It could be because I get enjoyment out of eavesdropping or it could be because Asian gentleman #1 is clearly the type that thinks other people give two shits about his opinion. Judging by the harsh glares he is getting from the other customers, it is obvious that I am the only one enjoying his one man show.

I would love to throw my two cents in the majority of the time when I hear people discussing random things amongst themselves and this conversation is no exception. The more eccentric of the two Asian men is going on about how absurd it is that people waste a text message on the word "okay" or better yet, just the letter, "K."

Minding my own business and silently listening from a far, I couldn't agree more, it is ridiculous and a waste of a text indeed. Asian man #2, on the other hand, took the side of the "okay" texters. Saying it is 'okay' to acknowledge that the text has been received.

But now ask yourself this, should the receiver of the 'okay' text send a text back to give the sender some peace of mind?

I'm aware no one does this but really, why not? someone has to put an end the cycle.

The reality is that no one wants to be the one to put an end to it (conversation, relationship, whatever 'it' may be). I guess it's not easy for most people, unnatural almost. It's something I'll never fully understand. If it's over, it's over, no sense trying to fight it.

Easier said than done? Maybe.

So for that I suppose I'm wise beyond my years.
